Engineering Consultancies

Engineering support for consultancies

We work alongside engineering consultancies as a senior, construction-focused extension of your team, adding planning approval, constructability, cost, contract, construction-phase, asset management and heavy vehicle access capability without you carrying that capacity permanently. You keep the client relationship; we work under your direction.

Consultancies

Planning & Approvals Support

  • Development applications

Engineering input on access, roads, stormwater, earthworks and services, aimed at what the planning scheme and the council’s engineering standards require.

  • Development assessment for councils

Engineering assessment of applications, information requests and conditions that are reasonable, relevant and buildable.

  • Operational works approvals

Applications prepared or assessed, with engineering drawings checked against the development approval conditions.

  • Haulage and road impact

Road impact assessments for quarries, mining, renewable energy and other projects prepared or evaluated, and the resulting road maintenance and infrastructure agreements negotiated.

  • Conditions compliance and sign-off

Works assessed against the approval conditions and signed off before survey plans are approved or works are accepted on maintenance, with RPEQ certification for civil works.

Consultancies

Design & Procurement Support

  • Constructability and staging review

Designs checked for how they will be built: access, staging around traffic, temporary works, material haul and wet season risk.

  • Construction hazard input to safety in design

Live traffic, services, excavation, water and contamination raised early as design, cost and program drivers.

  • Cost estimates, rate build-ups and quantity checks

Pre-tender estimates, independent checks of high-value quantities and, for civil works, benchmarking against historical rates from won contracts.

  • Tender documentation review

Drawings, specifications and schedule of rates checked against each other for gaps, conflicts and ambiguity.

  • Contract risk allocation review

Special conditions reviewed against AS 4000, AS 2124, council and Department of Transport and Main Roads conditions. Legal drafting stays with your client’s lawyers.

  • Disaster recovery works

Scoping, estimating, documenting and administering reconstruction works to Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements requirements.

  • Tender evaluation and value engineering

Price and rate analysis, assessment of qualifications and departures, clarification questions to tenderers, and independent review of proposed alternatives.

Consultancies

Construction-phase Support

  • Superintendent and Superintendent’s representative support

Notices, directions, correspondence and records prepared on time and backed by the contract, either as your nominated representative or supporting your Superintendent.

  • Variation and claim assessment

Assessment of variations, extension of time and latent condition claims against the contract, the program and the site records, with a clear recommendation and reasons.

  • Progress claim assessment

Progress claims checked against measured work and the schedule of rates, with cost reporting your client can rely on.

  • Close-out

Review of as-constructed records and handover documentation and support through the defects liability period, for all disciplines.

  • RPEQ certification (civil works only)

Additional certification capacity for civil engineering works. Certification in other disciplines stays with your registered engineers in that discipline.

Consultancies

Asset Management & Heavy Vehicle Access

  • Condition assessment and forward works programs

Inspections and condition ratings of civil assets to your client’s asset hierarchy, and renewal programs prioritised on condition, risk and budget.

  • Asset management plans and registers

Input to levels of service and whole-of-life cost comparisons, and as-constructed data checked for the asset register. Asset valuation stays with your client’s valuers.

  • Disaster recovery evidence

Pre-event condition records and damage assessments that support eligibility under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

  • Heavy vehicle route assessments and consent

Routes assessed for pavement, intersections, swept paths, sight distance and rail crossings, and help for councils responding to National Heavy Vehicle Regulator access requests.

  • Network planning and oversize movements

Heavy vehicle network and Performance Based Standards advice, route and staging advice for mining equipment and wind turbine components, and bridge and culvert assessments coordinated with a registered structural engineer.

Who we support

Consultancies of all disciplines

Engineering consultancies of all disciplines delivering for local government, Department of Transport and Main Roads, resource sector, renewable energy and disaster recovery clients across regional Queensland.
